ABOUT

My SI Kitchen ABOUTI’ve always had this passion and unimaginable interest in food that began at a very young age.  Being in the kitchen always make me feel productive and this blog represents my kind of making, baking & sharing.  If I were to define my cooking, I can honestly say, I am a variety of mixed cultures and foods.  This comes as no surprise since I grew up in New York City with great exposure to large diverse ethnic foods and cultures.  A family business that specialized in Middle Eastern & Mediterranean foods made cooking and large variety of international ingredients easily accessible.

I was born in Turkey and currently reside in Staten Island, New York with my husband and daughter.  A side from cooking, I hold a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Pace University & Masters of Science in Accounting from Long Island University and work as a Financial Analyst in the legal industry.

Merhaba! A good friend turned me onto Turkish cuisine awhile back, but Boston is sadly lacking in good Turkish restaurants-I think we have one, total

I highly encourage you to enter my recipe competition :) Because it’d be fun – and because I would love to see some delicious recipes that I could replicate at home!

    Cheers!

thank you, aysegul, for visiting my blog. i have just discovered yours and shall be visiting it often; it’s lovely. i have spent a lot of time in your country and simply adore it. some of my best memories are associated with a place called Cenat near the blue mosque which shut down quite a few years ago. they used to make a gorgeous borek filled w. minced meat. a pity it shut down.
    happy blogging!

    Dear NY’s Delight,
Thanks so much for your wonderful blog—pictures and all. I was traveling/living/falling in love with a particularily good looking Turkish man earlier this year, and could not get enough of the food. Trying to learn some recipes, I’ve been attempting to cook Turk cuisine apon my return. Tomorrow I am attempting Patlican Karniyak for my family, and hope all goes well. Thanks for helping!

    Hi!
Glad to find your blog… but if you have been living and studying in the US since 1989 why your English and grammar is so bad? You need to review and correct your writing , especially in the about page.
    Best,
    A

  27. admin on 17 Aug 2012 at 9:00 AM #

Hi Askanam – Thank you for the observation, will work on correcting. I’ve always struggled with grammar, but my math and science skills always excelled.
