My mother thought me to make Turkish boreks, pies, using fresh ready to use fillo dough and of course with hand made dough.  Using the fillo dough is the easiest and most time saving method, but now these days we can find many things frozen and ready cook.  I time saver for many traditional recipes.  

These cheese & spinach pies are handmade and imported from Greece and are can be found in your local Middle Eastern Stores like A&D Food Market & are also sold cooked at the open buffet counter in Amish Markets.

Need:

  • 4 frozen cheese pies
  • 4 frozen spinach pies
  • 4 egg yolks
    (Note: Can bake as many as you like – no need to cook all 4 pies at the same time)

Preparation:

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees
  2. Oil the bottom of a cooking sheet pan
  3. Place the Frozen pies on the pan and with a small kitchen brush, brush the egg yolks over each pie.  Leave the pan aside for 10 minutes, allowing pies to defrost but not completely. 
  4. Place the pan in the oven and cook at 425 degrees for 45 minutes until the crust of the pies turn a nice light brown color.
  5. Let the pies cool & serve as you wish.
