Maidens Tower ~ Kiz Kulesi

Istanbul is well known for its history and historical architecture.  One of its most outstanding and well known historic architecture is the Maidens Tower.  Great legends and stories are, and were told about this historical place, the story comes alive even more so when you take a step inside the magical tower.

It was an honor to be welcomed: as I took my first step towards the boat the only means of transportation between land and sea, the ride was smooth, but I felt my heart skip its beats and could hear the towers calling.  I took my second step towards the tower, I was off the boat and my feet were onto the concrete, standing in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.  I walked towards the open doors, the waiters were lined welcoming us.  I sighted to them, saying thank you only with a nod and sweet smile across my face.  I looked to my right then to my left, I saw the stairs leading towards the tower.  I felt a chill run down my spine, a calling to run, run, run up the stairs.

As my aunt stood next to me, our eye met and we both knew exactly what were feeling at that moment.  We were just amazed.  Amazed & Memorized by the sight and all that were set to see, feel and endeavour.

The Maidens Tower was reconstructed in the late 90’s and has been operating as a full functioning restaurant for the past 6 years.  Previously the tower was used for several different means, but not one has been successful as the restaurant.  Many of you might recall, the Tower was used in filming in a James Bond movie. PS: the tower does not have a basement!

I apologize I’m skipping the Main Course – which was just delicioussss…I’m head straight to the dessert…
